Dog? Cat? Mythical creature? It's a Lion and a Chinese symbol of luck and prosperity. Also stands at entrances to scare away unwanted spooks and bad luck.

Lucy: I think you may be able to find miniature ones in Chinatown.

Lore: the colour red symbolizes prosperity and luck. the collar is tied to fashion a flower, the flower of wealth.
