aqua stop

Whaddaya think? I'm really pleased with myself. Well actually I should give myself a hard kick in the behind. I was supposed to be writing a script for a corporate gig but decided to do a bit of home studio photography instead. I spent about an hour or so playing with backgrounds and flash positions and shutter speed and exposure and reflectors and... Took about a hundred pictures and ended up with 18 that I was extremely happy with. Water always photographs so beautifully.

Thanks for letting me post this as a KLDP shot. There will be a KL picture tomorrow, I promise. Another mini-series, I think. Let's see what happens today.

Ha, that's funny that you got Eric's stamp of approval! So all is well.

This is great, fantastic, superb, magnifique! I've seen this technique and have wanted to try it. I don't have your equipment, but it looks like fun! I'm sure it isn't easy, and I don't mean to make it sound that way. I'm glad you posted it!

Are you going to post the rest somewhere that we can view them?

It's fantastic! I love how the stripes in the water drops are in focus but the background stripes aren't! You star, you!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. See the HUUGGEEE smile on my face :)

Here is the list of items I used for the shot:
- an Ikea placemat for the background
- a blue chopping board for the base
- a small square glass container
- a larger glass dish to hold the small one
- a plastic syringe
- tripod
- remoto flash
- 105mm macro lens
- a gold/silver reflector
- water, lots of it
- an hour of time

Won't tell you about the backache and dozens of test shots.

Yup Mimmu, you're right. Immense joy when I was done.

I've been wanting to try this for months but always thought it'll not come out like the pictures in magazines. Then I thought, "Just do it!"

I'll be posting the rest on Flickr soon.

Thanks again for the wonderful comments. I really am so happy with these water shots.
