DP Theme Day: My Corner Local Shop

June. A popular month for weddings in the Western Hallmark world. But today is the first day of June and it's theme day for the Daily Photo members.

This is Woh Sing, the corner sundry mom'n'pop store on the main street where I live. For as long as I've lived here (30+ years), Woh Sing has provided us with our everyday needs. Though I go to the markets and supermarkets, I still pop in to pick up a thing or 2. Like yesterday for example, I went to get garbage bags and flour.

Now you've seen my little corner shop, go visit the other ones around the world.

edwin, I also find myself shopping mainly at franchises. After browsing the world or local shops I think I'll make an effort to spend more of my money at locally owned stores. They are a treasure.

Denton from Greenville and the Daily Photo Map.

PS: Edwin, I would love to see Kuala Lumpur participate in the Daily Photo Map. Please take a look and give it consideration.

It's comforting to know the important supplies are always close at hand, like eggs and cooking oil and rice. thanks for showing us the inside of your market.

Edwin, I love that you've included people in the shop and given us the feel of just entering it ourselves. Mom n' Pop markets are such a staple of life in big city neighborhoods. I think its a hard life for shopkeepers in the sense that its hard to get a break away from the responsibilities. It's a way of life, I guess. I like seeing the stack of eggs and the green scale and that bit of reflection in the glass case at the back of the store.

I grew up buying stuff for mum at shops like this too!

Things like flour when mum realises she needs more to make pisang goreng for us! :-)

I like to see these little mom n pop stores. Even though we all love the convenience of supermarkets and malls, I still like to shop in these little stores as well.

Fantastic corner shop and great photo. I love how the eggs are stacked up - I haven't seen a shop like this in 40 years! The ever-present Coca Cola logo is cool, too.

Great to see the inside of the shop and all it sells. Apologies for late comment. Have been away but now back and Internet is back on! Lovely contribution to Theme Day. Much looks enticing.
