obligation

Completely uninspired by the day and not having found anything interesting, I thought I'd stop forcing something to happen and walked towards Borders bookstore. As always, when you stop waiting, it happens. The evening sun, the reflection, the buildings, the shot came.

I guess what really got my goat yesterday was the inability of 'travelling' the world and saying farewell to Bob and Carmen. I understand how you feel. I feel the same way. It gets harder and harder with every post. And I will post what I want. These are my views of the city I live in. Hopefully we share these experiences.

Moving right along...Next!

i feel the same way edwin. I will post what i want about my city... No matter what, even if its a cat or flowers or even rocks...

anyway...

you got a great shot there! the building looks imposing. I just noticed one thing today, most of the blogs including mine posted pictures of buildings at a certain angle. I just dropped by Raymond's Singapore site and he also got this building shot. probably we're in the same frequency nowadays... looking for inspiration.

have a nice day!

Hi Edwin! I feel bad about Carmen and Bob's farewell too. I enjoy each one of the daily photo blogs and hate to see anyone leave...but we all have priorities....and if there are just so many things happening we just have to be practical. :(

Edwin, did you see Nuno's Porto DP photo yesterday also? Aiming at what can be above? It's a beauty, a true typical view of Portugal 'upstairs'. You foundthis and it's another great post, the contrasts of architecture, the reflection. I've jsut read your comment to me (I'm getting Regatta'd out now!) & I can understand what's urging you to makethe change, which is one of focus (not lens, but feeling you'd have more creative flexilibilty, no?). Whatever you do, it's your baby. Just do it, but don't give up. You've way too much talent to deprive us all of your shots and your great, appreciated comments!

Just remember Edwin, your pictures and comments are greatly appreciated. Everyone knows the effort that goes into the best blogs and yours is definitely one of those!

Am I missing something? Carmen was clear about her intentions, but Bob said he'd be back on 7/24. A little behind schedule, but I thought he was going to continue, tho?!

Take what you want to shoot Edwin. Just start another blog and give these photographs a rest; just make sure we have your new address! I, too, feel no particular obligation and roam freely. I have learned a great deal from bloggers so I'm happy right now!

Afraid of heights, I'm intimidated by your photo!!

And I have to say...factor in too much sun here and bear with me folks...but I just have to say I think I might be enjoying the comments here more than the pix today!

NOT THAT YOUR phal-shots aren't FABULOUS!!! There's just such nice dialogue hap'nin at the moment!

BAGUS SEKALI!

Thanks guys. I guess all of us are feeling this virtual and real pressure of having to post and feeling the joy sucked out of us. How foolish of me to think it was just a few people who felt this way.

I won't be quitting anytime soon but like most my blogs, the affair will end. The joy I have derived from KLDP, I can't even begin to describe. It has brought me closer to my own work. Never did I think a hobby like this would lead to making my amateur attempts at photography part of my work in theatre. I mean, investing in a better camera, software and things... An expensive hobby now giving life to my creative endeavours.

To top that wank, I have all of you who have been so kind as to enjoy my pictures and words as much as I have learnt from you. That's the one thing that's keeping me going. I promised myself to stick to this for a year. It has already pushed me into fine-tuning my eye. Too much act-tor third eye! The need for external stimulation to compliment an actor's sometimes selfish internalization processes.

I do hope Bob returns to BDP. It shook me that he was offerring his DP to anyone who might want to take it over.

Kate, I have 4 other blogs and there'll soon be another ;)

Kris, don't 'ta-pau' yet, please? Make sure you come back here on Sunday, k?

No no no, not stopping yet. My ego may be bruised but the will is strong. If I have to keep posting pictures of my garden and the neighbour's pets to stay here, you bloody know I will.

In our journey for answers, we all have different paths. Taking pictures, for me, is one way of getting closer to my interpretation of perfection. What I see only adds to what I learn.

Today I learnt people do give a shit when it counts. And we search for the same things...well, roughly the same.

With this shot, things are looking up.

Yeah Jane, we all strangely tune in to the same station.

Thank you. Love always.

I love your towers.

C'mon, that summer heat that takes many of us, that summer light, difficult to deal with, that summer time of vacation and, oooof, break away (Listen to John Mayer's "Break Away", pals, and sorry for all the northern ones :-)

Eric, if you pass by, how glorious you are for that discontinuated posting !

Paris is big and rich, but our eyes do the job, not the small, medium, big town we live in. Any posts are welcome. Internet freedom of expression is a great thing.

Love you all,
Chris

Fantastic shot! As I was scrolling down I kept expecting the picture to quit, but it kept going! You frame things so damn well!

I knew I would get overwhelmed of I tried to blog everyday, especially taking a new photo every day, that's why I went with a twice a week posting system. I just don't want to get burnt out on what I love!

Well, as you might have guessed, Edwin I myself have left New York Daily Photo and moved to work on my www.indieperfumes.com site...hope you all visit me there -- I certainly will keep visiting you all here, because your photos and writing are very inspirational, and I feel like I have grown to know so many people I would otherwise not have known all around the world...

Hi ! I've been posting since the February and somehow this hobby has become an obligation. Another task added to my already busy schedule. There are times I also feel like quitting! But then reading wonderful comments stops me from doing so. Like you I promised myself I'll continue for a year then decide then. There are things I've learned since I started this...like html, links, tags and all that jargon, whew!!
And I got to have new friends, like you!

I hope Bob will change his mind and continue, even for just a few more weeks! He is one of the greatest photographers in our small family.

Have a nice day!!
