orkid

It's been a very busy few days and the weather has been wonderful. Bright sunny afternoons followed by rain in the evening. However, I haven't had the chance to roam the city. Luckily, with this weather, the orchids in my house have bloomed once again. Did you know Orchid is derived from the Greek word orkhis which means 'testicle'? I never knew that. But I now understand why I'm so fascinated by orchids. More proof that my mind is in the gutter.

hah! But Georgia O'Keeffe painted close-ups of flowers because of their affinity to a woman's body. With an orchid maybe you have both? :-)

Very human-like, but I see a nose and helmet, not the other. :)

That does not look like a testicle. I would associated more with the woman's anatomy for its beauty and perfection.

Beautiful! And this one is a new bloom! You must have one heck of a fantastic garden. At least you weren't the one associating the flowers with ... ummm... body parts, so there was one guy who thought like you... in the ancient times... not making you feel better, am I?

Thanks for the beautiful bloom. Mine are well and truly all finished this year, so no orchids around Christmas, but I still have the last two pots with stalks sticking out inside the house. I suppose I better take them outside.
