rich fertility
Chinese New Year is a 15 day festival. In these 15 days, friends send baskets of mandarines and cookies and other yummy stuff to each other. The other day, I received a long box of goodies. In it were 2 different kinds of cookies, a lovely raisin fluffy cake and 2 red eggs. I consumed everything until I realised I should've taken a shot of it. I had left the red eggs for last. In Chinese culture, eggs symbolise fertility and red is the colour of prosperity. Red eggs are usually consumed at birthdays or weddings. For obvious reasons.
So, here are my 2 eggs with a gold nugget resting on top for luck.

Hi Edwin
This is such a beautiful photo and a good omen. A friend of mine is in fertility treatment today and your photo tells me that all will end well.
Thank you for your eye for colour and composition! It's just wonderful.
...you ate EVERYTHING...??? hahahhahahahahaaaa...
Lovely tradition and symbolism, nice picture!
We also paint the eggs red but not at New Year but at Easter!
ooh, be careful with those eggs then.....
Great red colour. Such a vibrant picture. I like the text too.
15 days festival with cookies ...
watch your weight!
The red shade is spectacular!
In Hungary eggs symbolize fertility too. Women give eggs to men if they water them on Easter day.
Two eggs and a golden nugget in the middle! Oh sweet Edwin you made my day, I just burst into laughter!
To the serious stuff now, I love the rich colours of your photo, the golden details, and the info about the traditions.
Next time keep a cookie for me. Hope you enjoyed the latte!
dear pod, I will be careful with the eggs...as careful as you were with your red botty :p
dear watchy, i'll try to WATCH my weight but in the last year, my weight has taken on it's own life. I have no control whatsoever :)
Nice...the gold nugget's chines character looks so cute and tiny amidst its other red surroundings.
Here's wishing you a very fertile year. HAHAHAHAAA!!!
