Petaling Street pt.1
Petaling Street to us locals, a place to buy cheap designer knock-offs for tourists. A place fondly known as Chinatown. It's a place open day and night. The food is great and sometimes you really can find a genuine fake Rolex. Your friends back home will never know. With this series, I'll be showing you the things that caught my attention and you'll see how wonderful it is.
Let's start with the gateway. This is a couple of years old. When I was a child, before tourism became a hot topic, Petaling Street was dirty, full of character and had smells you never want to dream of. Today, it's cleaned up and still, it managed to hold on to it's charm. Just barely. Thank heavens I can still get the best roast duck there.

a new ballade arises on your blog, super. this door is splendid. I await the continuation impatiently
If the inside is as striking as the gate, this should be an interesting series :)
Ben, not quartz. Who knows?
Kris, very tak shiok already. Even the makan shops have raised their prices.
Danielgent, how funny you are! It's just called Petaling Street but nowhere near PJ. Thanks for popping by :)
Faye, hope you enjoy the rest of the series.
Thanks guys.
I ate there before. Yum yum...
Ha ha, if it's quartz, that is obvious fake.
Well, another good series Edwin.
Petaling Street sounds a lot like our Canal Street, a mostly-Chinese area filled with tourists eager to buy cheap copies of designer stuff and DVDs. Some of them even seem to think that their $10 bags are genuine Prada and their $5 watches came from the Rolex factory. Silly tourists, they're so eager to snap up the "bargains" they run to the vendor's stalls, right past the bakery that makes the best pork buns in town.
Yup, it's like Canal Street. Well, it used to be like any other street until someone decided to turn it into a tourist attraction. But how can anyone think they can buy a genuine Prada for $10?? And miss out on the pork buns???
