New Beginnings: Happy New Year!


It's 2007! A new day, a new year. Lots to look forward to. And it's DP Theme Day and the theme is 'The Best Picture of 2006.' It was a tough decision. I asked friends to give me their favourites. I also had my own list of about 50+ pictures. This picture of my cousin Rena's wedding wasn't even in the running (originally posted June 25). However, as I was narrowing down my choices, I thought I'd look through the entire KLDP archive to see if I missed any. Then this smiled at me and immediately I knew this was the perfect shot to introduce the new year.

Rena and Hadi on their wedding day. A day of new beginnings. Cheesy and clichéd I know but I'm looking forward to 2007. It's going to be a busy year and it'll completely exhaust me but I'm hoping to end the year with a big cheesy smile on my face.

Your cousin's smile will start 2007 off on a very positive note for all of your reader. Please tell her thank you ... I found the best part of this theme day was reviewing all of my photos posted in 2006. The memories were great. The chance to share them is even better.

Hi Ed! I know you're closer to Jan 2nd than 1/1, but what the heck? Half the day always disappears getting over the night before on New Year's Day. Thanks for your greetings chez moi.
Now, re the pic of Rena & Hadi, you know what? After all those 2006 shots, I honestly feel you hit the perfect note with this one. It is such a great shot. And Rena's green - somehow that is THE colour of the season here. It's in sweaters & cardigans all over the place!
You're aiming high. Take off & fly! But make sure your parachute's in place, just in case (all rhymes entirely fortuitous & not intended).

The endings can be bittersweet as well as nostalgic, and the beginnings can be a bit scary yet challenging. This beautiful woman obviously looked forward to her new beginnings with a life partner. Love the smile; it lights up the photo!
